Is Your Equipment Affected?

An affected two-prong plug adapter has either four or five characters or no characters on the inside slot where it attaches to the main Apple power adapter.

Redesigned adapters have a 3-letter regional code in the slot (EUR, KOR, AUS, ARG or BRA). These do not need repairing.

The recall does not affect any other Apple wall plug adapters designed for Canada, China, Hong Kong, Japan, United Kingdom, United States or any Apple USB power adapters.

What to do?

Customers should stop using affected plug adapters and exchange the affected adapters for new, redesigned ones.

Apple need to verify your Mac, iPad, iPhone or iPod serial number as part of the exchange process so please find your serial number in advance.

Customers will need to choose one of the following options below:

Exchange your adapter(s) at your local Authorised Apple Service Provider

Request a replacement via the web

Contact Apple Support.


If you have an affected device we strongly urge you to have the affected plug replaced.

You WILL need your device serial number to complete the replacement.
