Bio - Chris Jared

Chris is an electronics engineer starting in public radio in the mid 60s. He moved to public television in 1972 covering the introduction of colour, and the commissioning of the Avalon TV studios. Subsequently progressing through public service with the then Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries and Department of Scientific and Industrial Research.

His foray into the private sector started with a TV commercial production house, an electronics manufacturer, a regional food warehouse and an IT support company. He has been programming computers as a hobby since the mid 70s, and professionally for the last 13 years with an emphasis on database applications.

He retired in January 2013 and spends his spare time playing golf, IT support person for the Hutt Bridge Club, playing golf, tutoring at SeniorNet and playing golf. Chris is married and has a son, daughter and two grandchildren.
